Other Considerations

  • Menstruation does not prevent you from waxing, however, your skin may be more sensitive.
  • If you are pregnant, using oral contraceptives or hormone replacement your skin may be more sensitive to waxing, so it's best to have a patch test (like a small area on your arm) and see how your skin reacts for 24 hours before getting an entire eyebrow or leg wax.
  • If you smoke or have Rosacea waxing can irritate dilated capillaries (weak or broken blood vessels) which are commonly found on people with Rosacea and smokers. If the capillaries are very red, stay away from waxing in that area.
  • Stimulants such as caffeine or alcohol in your system can cause skin to be extra sensitive to waxing, meaning you could get more red or inflamed than usual. Give yourself a couple hours after drinking coffee or alcohol before getting waxed.
  • You might be affected if you use powerful exfoliators on your skin. Salicylic acid (found in some toners or skin clarifyers), alpha-hydroxy acid, white willow bark, white willow bark extract and enzymes all strip cells from the skin. It's all too much exfoliation combined with waxing, and could make skin red, bleed or even scab over. So stop using these products in the area getting waxed for at least three days before, and three to four days after waxing.

Difference Between Bikini, Extended Bikini and Brazilian

Difference Between Bikini, Extended Bikini and Brazilian Bikini Wax    This is considered a standard, or more basic, type of bikini wax. This is simply a ‘tidy up’ that removes any hair that could be seen while wearing a bikini or a swim suit – 2 finger of the bikini line.   Extended Bikini ( Deep Bikini ) This removes all of the hair that would be taken off with the standard bikini, instead of two finger if goes deeper into the bikini line. Brazilian A Brazilian  removes hair from the full front and back, leaving some hair is optional. This is the perfect style for wearing a thong bikini, as no hair will be visible front or back. Brazilian hair removal is a popular choice when it comes to styling and bikini waxing.

DIFFERENCE BETWEEN HARD WAX AND SOFT WAX?

Hard wax is  thicker than soft wax and works by hardening on your skin  — hence, the name.  Hard wax is less painful on the face than soft wax. Hard wax leaves no sticky residue. It is much easier to clean up. Hard wax grabs shorter hair, eliminating the need to wax on the same area twice. Hard wax is significantly more costly for suppliers to purchase, making it less popular in regular salons. When using hard wax, the hair follicles and pores open up from the heat, making it much easier to pull the hair out. Soft wax is  applied with a waxing spatula before being removed using a muslin strip .  Soft wax adheres to skin more than hard wax, exfoliating skin more. Soft wax grabs fine hairs perfectly, working better on large areas of the body than hard wax. Unlike hard wax, soft wax cannot be applied to the same spot twice because it removes layers of dead skin. Even if soft wax tends to be stickier than hard wax, there is no special preparation needed.
